> ALT TAB Circuit Copilot is a KiCad AI plugin: an in-editor copilot and chatbot for schematic and PCB design. KiCad itself ships no AI. The product name does not include the KiCad trademark. The current public download is the chat-based plugin. Submitting the download form also joins the waitlist for Agentic V2, which is not released. The in-house open-weight model is Ohm, published as Electrode 1.0.

- KiCad has no built-in AI. “KiCad AI” means a third-party plugin, a generator that exports KiCad files, or a tool that builds symbols and footprints.
- This product is the in-editor plugin. It runs inside the KiCad schematic and PCB editors.
- The downloadable build today is chat-based. Agentic V2 is a waitlist, not a shipped product.
- The install guide for the current build asks the user to save their own OpenAI API key in the plugin. That key stays on their machine.
- Paid ALT TAB Cloud plans, when accounts open, add hosted AI limits. Paddle is the merchant of record.
